Webelos Wish List!

As WEBELOS become Boy Scouts, they need gear for camping and hiking in the outdoors. Here are some ideas for Christmas and Birthdays.

Boy Scout Essentials

  1. Pocketknife (Swiss Army style, avoid the ones with a lot of gadgets, they don’t need them, they cannot use knife until trained, @ $20)
  2. Rain Protection (poncho for growing kids works best, under $10)
  3. Matches (strike anywhere and a waterproof match holder @ $3)
  4. Compass like one at right for proper use on map (under $10)
  5. Water bottle (screw-on lid preferred rather than pull off top, $6 for Nalgene bottle)
  6. Mess Kit (aluminum kits fine, at Wal-Mart for about $6)
  7. Flashlight (LED headlamps, or small flashlights work great, @ $18)
  8. First Aid Kit (hiker kit, or check list in Boy Scout Handbook, and put in Ziploc bag)
  9. Boy Scout Handbook! (available at Boscov’s, or council office)
  10. Sleeping Bag (at least a sleeping bag that goes to 30 degrees—look for deals at www.campmor.com, or www.killerdeals.com, or Dick’s Sporting Goods, etc., prices vary widely)
  11. Daypack (prefer to be different from school bag, since they will have knife, mess kit, etc., this will avoid any potential problems. Look at same places for deals and closeouts as sleeping bags, prices vary)
